The Finance Department at the Vera Institute of Justice supports the organizations mission by stewarding resources responsibly transparently and equitably. The team oversees budgeting financial reporting grants and contract compliance and internal controls to ensure that Veras programs are well-supported and financially sustainable. Through strongfinancial managementand cross-team collaboration Finance helps enable impactful justice reform work and ensures that organizational resources are aligned with Veras values and strategic priorities.
The Finance & Accounting Intern will work closely with the CFO to support financial operations accounting processes and strategic initiatives. This role includes assisting with projects that involve collaboration between Finance and IT such as system upgrades data integrity and process automation. The internship provides exposure to executive-level decision-making and cross-functional teamwork.
By the end of the internship the intern will:
1. Assist in preparing monthly quarterly and annual financial statements.
2. Support budgeting forecasting and variance analysis activities.
3. Help maintain accurate accounting records and reconcile accounts.
4. Participate in cash flow analysis and working capital management.
5. Assist with internal audits and compliance documentation.
6. Prepare presentations and reports for CFO and senior leadership.

Please note this role will report to our Indsutry City Brooklyn office. Vera employees adhere to a hybrid schedule and are in-office on an alternating schedule that generally amounts to 10 days per month.
The compensation range for this position is $17.00 - $25.00.Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to experience and performance. The salary range listed is just one component of Vera Institutes total compensation package for employees.
