Ford Powertrain Manufacturing engineers contribute to the design and production of the most innovative engines and transmissions being manufactured globally today.
Ensure processes facilities equipment and tooling are provided for new programs in accordance with published Powertrain Standards Strategies Bill of Process (BOP) Procedures and Guidelines and Global Product Development System (GPDS) requirements.
Develop maintain and continuously improve Powertrain Standards Strategies Bill of Process Procedures and Guidelines as part of the Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering Quality Operating Systems (PTME QOS).
Support the Quality Operating Systems and Ford Production System (FPS).
Provide technical expertise to Powertrain Operations (PTO) plants & support strategic priorities.
Interface with Product design to evaluate Machining feasibility and incorporate DFA/DFM principles
Understand and be able to apply discrete event simulation for improved constraint analysis
Responsibilities
Deliver Manufacturing systems:
Develop and maintain robust processes and mitigate / eliminate all identified failure modes and risks for new programs through Failure Mode Avoidance. Outputs of this process include Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) Control Plans approved Special Characteristics Communication and Agreement Forms (SCCAF) Error Proofing Matrix (EPM) etc.
Provide technical expertise to Powertrain Operations (PTO) plants & support strategic priorities.
Support Value Analysis / Value Engineering / Investment Efficiency Lead PT Fitness and Investment Efficiency actions with Manufacturing Strategy & Advanced Planning.
Review available equipment database for opportunities to reuse and retool facilities in new programs.
Run-off equipment at supplier and plant to show capability and robustness including safety.
Assist plants as required in resolving significant engineering issues and achieving continuous improvement for both new programs and current production. Assist as required to resolve pre- and post-launch production issues and drive productivity and quality improvements.
Deliver technical content to new programs to ensure program objectives are met.
Develop & support implementation of new technologies.
Conduct benchmarking studies as needed to support product and manufacturing decisions.
Support Component Program Module Team (CPMT) process for new model introductions and drive design/print compliance of BoD and E2KS K-PAC requirements.
Develop Resource Requirements - Hire and assign resources to support M4-M6 level (M1-M3 as required) manufacturing programs and PTME business objectives.
Drive Innovation and Technical Excellence Awards nominations annually in each area.
Identify assess and select suppliers and subcontractors.
Lead / Support Engineering Peer Review meetings.
Champion program implementation from inception through through launch of all equipment to support new programs.
Lead Plant installation supervisors with appropriate timing and installation documentation to insure efficient/timely installations.
Assess employee competencies and support Individual Development Plans
Monitor engineering application of Strategies Procedures Guidelines for delivery of programs tracked in MIDAS.
Assure delivery of program productivity objective through R&M and process design including FMEAs
Understand R&M of equipment and support OEMs.
Support appropriate Six Sigma projects.
Qualifications
5 . Preferred previous experiences / competencies to prepare for the position
Extensive machining manufacturing process knowledge preferably Prismatic and Round components.
Solid understanding of GD&T Blue print reading Tolerance stack up and process design Experience.
Good troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Preferred previous experiences
Experience in delivering M6 scale programs is highly desired
Manufacturing plant experience highly preferred.
10 years manufacturing in Prismatic and Round part experience.
