Job Summary
Road Construction Supervisor oversees daily road construction and maintenance managing crews equipment and materials to ensure projects are completed safely on time and within budget. Key duties include inspecting work for quality enforcing safety regulations interpreting blueprints and liaising with contractors and engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Site Management: Oversee day-to-day operations including scheduling personnel assigning tasks and managing subcontractors.
Safety Compliance: Enforce strict health and safety standards (OSHA) to prevent accidents and ensure a secure compliant work environment.
Quality Control: Inspect ongoing road work to ensure it meets engineering specifications project plans and local codes.
Resource Coordination: Order and manage materials machinery and equipment ensuring availability to avoid downtime.
Budget & Scheduling: Monitor project expenditures and progress ensuring adherence to the timeline and financial goals.
Reporting: Maintain accurate logs of project progress labor materials and equipment usage.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training Associates or Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or construction management is preferred.
Experience: Several years of experience in road construction usually with prior leadership or foreman experience.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods materials equipment and local/state safety regulations.
Skills: Effective communication leadership problem-solving and proficiency in reading interpreting and applying blueprints and drawings.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods frequently stoop bend and kneel.
Capacity to lift and move objects up to 75 lbs working in varying weather conditions.
Required Skills:
Conducting surveys and gathering data for land development and construction projects. Designing and setting up survey systems including total stations and GPS receivers. Performing calculations and analyzing data to produce accurate survey reports.
