Downers Infrastructure Delivery team is helping deliver the Ōtaki to North of Levin (Ō2NL) Highway Project. We are looking for a skilled Project Engineer Network Drainage to join the Ō2NL South Alliance and support the successful delivery of key drainage and pavement subsoil works on this significant infrastructure project.

About Ō2NL:

The Ōtaki to north of Levin (Ō2NL) highway will dramatically improve safety resilience and efficiency as well as increasing transport choices for the areas growing population. The Ō2NL project is led in partnership with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi Muaūpoko Tribal Authority local hapū of Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga and council partner Horowhenua District Council.

This transformative project is being delivered using a two-alliance approach with each alliance delivering a section of the road and associated works. Together alliance partners are working to create a positive legacy for the region led by our project principles to tread lightly with the whenua and create an enduring legacy. We are seeking excellent people for this unique opportunity to work and collaborate with leading industry organisations.

Te kōwhiringa The Opportunity

As Project Engineer you will be responsible for the efficient delivery of network drainage and pavement subsoil works within the Ō2NL South Alliance. Working as part of an integrated alliance team you will contribute to the successful execution of the construction programme through strong technical leadership coordination of subcontractors and close integration of design and construction activities.

This role oversees the construction of network drainage and pavement subsoil infrastructure ensuring all works are delivered safely efficiently and in alignment with alliance values project principles and Health & Safety objectives.

Nga pūkenga matua Important Skills

Tertiary qualification in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
35 years experience in civil infrastructure including drainage stormwater roading or site development works.
Strong experience in site-based delivery subcontractor coordination and day-to-day construction support.
Solid knowledge of NZ standards council requirements and environmental compliance.
Ability to read and apply design drawings specifications survey data and ITPs including compaction and materials testing.
Experience supporting programme cost control and variations to achieve project outcomes.
Proficient with industry tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D Trimble or GPS-based systems with a full clean drivers licence.
A safety-first collaborative team player with strong communication skills and the ability to perform in a fast-paced alliance environment.
