Job Summary
Maintenance Engineer - Meat Processing Plant
Day or Night Shift Pay Rate Negotiable Southland Based
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Engineer to join a hardworking team within a busy meat processing facility. This role is hands-on and critical to ensuring the smooth safe and efficient operation of the plant.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of the plant (excluding electrical work) ensuring equipment is running optimally and addressing issues as they arise. This role involves a strong mechanical focus and requires solid experience working with pneumatics. Key duties include:
Setting up and managing maintenance schedules
Maintaining and repairing existing plant equipment
Completing mechanical repairs and troubleshooting pneumatic systems
Planning and preparing for shutdown periods where major works are completed
Supporting continuous improvement and plant efficiency
What Were Looking For:
Previous experience in a food production or meat processing environment (essential for understanding GMP standards)
Relevant maintenance engineering qualifications
Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with pneumatics
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive can-do attitude
Ability to work independently and as part of a hardworking team
Willingness to work either day or night shift
