Main Purpose of Job

The Pediatric Overstay Coordinator serves as a program manager within the Behavioral Health Administrations Division of Primary Behavioral Health & Early Intervention. This position is responsible for leading the Departments efforts related to emergency department and inpatient Pediatric Overstays across the state. ThePediatric Overstay Coordinator will supervise a team of approximately three that will collectively focus on improving access to services across the behavioral health continuum of care for youth and their families.

The Pediatric Overstay Coordinator will track monitor review and analyze data develop or edit and implement policies and procedures creatematerials for education training and technical assistance and coordinate extensively with stakeholders including but not limited to other stateagencies providers and local behavioral health position also serves as the Contract Monitor for several large-scale projects with providers to increase inpatient and bridge-care beds including the direct facilitation of referrals and the oversight of discharges to other levels of care and the community.

This role also serves as the lead subject matter expert in the development and monitoring of a statewide Bed Registry and Referral and Care Traffic Control System. This position will be required to lead and co-facilitate workgroups and meetings with the vendor as well as with internal and external stakeholders. The development of workflows communications and policies and procedures regarding the Bed Registry System will also be a core responsibility and inform the Pediatric Overstay work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Six years of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Masters degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules regulations policy procedures and processes or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred candidates should possess the following:

  • Bachelors degree plus relevant experience including in public health health policy and/or social work;
  • Demonstrated clinical experience; and
  • Demonstrated experience in health care policy and program implementation

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
