As Australias Strategic Shipbuilder Austal will start by delivering eighteen Landing Craft Medium and eight Landing Craft Heavy vessels for the Australian Army.

About the Opportunity
The Maintenance Engineer ensures maritime systems remain supportable available and costeffective across their lifecycle by developing maintenance strategies and analysis integrating requirements into design and sustainment planning and collaborating with ILS and design teams. The role operates under the supervision of the ILS Lead and is accountable to the Integrated Product Support Engineering Manager within the shipbuilding program.
Whats Involved
Maintenance Documentation Development: Create clear detailed maintenance plans defining resources levels frequency and work hours
Traceability: Link documentation to RCM FMECA and LORA methodologies to optimize lifecycle costs and maximize availability
Maintenance Task Analysis: Ensure tasks resources procedures and personnel competencies are fit for purpose and traceable
IPS Collaboration: Align maintenance engineering with other ILS Program elements for integrated support solutions
Design Interface Integration: Embed maintenance requirements into ship design to ensure maintainability and supportability
Future Planning: Address growth obsolescence and technology refresh/insertion in maintenance strategies
Issue Resolution: Manage engineering changes obsolescence and reliability issues efficiently to maintain operational effectiveness
Stakeholder Consultation: Capture input from internal and external stakeholders; align outputs with other IPS disciplines
Compliance and Assurance: Ensure activities meet Defence standards enterprise policies and contractual obligations
Data Management and Reporting: Accurately capture analyze and report maintenance data
