The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a motivated and dependable Highway Maintenance Specialist to join our Maintenance Team in Dubois Wyoming. This position plays a vital role in supporting WYDOTs mission to provide a safe efficient and high-quality transportation system for the traveling public. Under limited supervision the Highway Maintenance Specialist performs a wide range of roadway maintenance activities to ensure Wyomings highways remain safe and reliable year-round.
In this role you will help keep Wyomings roadways safe and functional by performing routine and emergency roadway maintenance including snow and ice control road surface repairs and right-of-way maintenance. You will operate and maintain highway maintenance equipment and vehicles respond to weather-related and emergency situations and work outdoors in all weather conditions and varying terrain. This position requires a strong commitment to safety teamwork and public service as well as the ability to work independently under limited supervision. Experience in maintenance work or heavy equipment operation is preferred though a willingness to learn is essential.

PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference may be given to applicants with a current Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements before employment.
**Must have a Class A CDL within 30 days from the date of hire.
**Must have the ability to obtain a Certification to operate specified equipment as directed by WYDOT.
**Must have the ability to obtain a Certificate of course completion of Defensive Driving.
**Must have the ability to obtain a First Aid/CPR certification.
**Must have the ability to obtain a Flagger certification.
**Must have the ability to obtain and maintain water and wastewater certifications if necessary.

Temporary employees are accepting a full-time position.
Current employees accepting a promotional opportunity - recruitment must have been opened to the public.
One year of service to WYDOT must be completed; failure to complete this requirement will forfeit the hiring incentive and funds will be recouped from final pay.
Internal candidates would be required to remain in the position for a minimum of one (1) year from their promotion date.
Employees would only be eligible for one (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
If the employee elects to downgrade through an active recruitment and/or appointment during the twelve (12) month period they would be required to pay the bonus back.
