The Medical University of South Carolinas Department of Rehabilitation Sciences invites applications for a full-time 12-month non-tenured faculty position (open rank) to serve as a core member of the Physical Therapy Doctorate (DPT) Program in a hybrid format. We aim to fill a hybrid faculty position with diverse specialties backgrounds and expertise that cover the full scope of the DPT curriculum in primary care musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Core faculty in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program are expected to teach an agreed-upon workload within their area of expertise to address the divisions needs. We seek candidates who are leading in advancing physical therapy education through innovative teaching models that enhance student learning.

Ideally we seek a collegial individual with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (or tDPT) with American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) or other certification credentials appropriate for their teaching responsibilities. This is a non-tenured track faculty position with a salary and rank commensurate with qualifications.

Candidates from all clinical and teaching backgrounds relevant to rehabilitation will be fully considered. Candidates for Assistant or Associate must have a proven track record of scholarship graduate student advising and teaching at the Doctoral level consistent with MUSC-ranked faculty.Ideal candidates would identify with the MUSC College of Health Professions core values: Collaboration Creativity Diversity Excellence and Integrity.

Essential Tasks and Functions:

The faculty member must demonstrate the following knowledge skill and ability or be able to explain and demonstrate that the faculty member can perform the jobs essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

1. Demonstrate the ability to adhere to the core values of MUSC and the physical therapy profession.

2. Demonstrate contemporary knowledge and skill/expertise in the areas of assigned teaching.

3. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and professionally both written and oral both online and in-person with administration faculty staff lab instructors and students associated with the program.

4. Demonstrate working with others collaborating and interacting effectively with people from diverse backgrounds including students administration faculty staff and lab instructors.

5. Demonstrate the ability to be organized and detail-oriented with activities within the program including but not limited to communication course planning curriculum assessment course management and assignments.

6. Demonstrate abilities to handle various responsibilities and multitask as a full-time faculty member within the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program including teaching service scholarship and coaching students.

7. For teaching purposes faculty must hold a professional license or be eligible for licensure in South Carolina (or a compact state) in addition to their state of residence.

8. Demonstrate strong digital literacy and computer skills to effectively engage in and meet the demands of our online technology-enhanced didactic instructional format.

9. Display an ability to conduct evidence-informed teaching (based on the scholarship of teaching and learning) integrate technology within the classroom and build a student-centered community within the online classroom.

Additionally the successful candidate will understand higher education and contemporary clinical practice relevant to leadership in physical therapy and will have knowledge of legislative regulatory legal and practice issues affecting didactic and clinical education students and the profession of physical therapy within the United States.

Teaching and Education Responsibilities: Teach courses as agreed upon with the DPT Hybrid Division Director for the DPT Programs hybrid format with workloads aligned with CHP faculty guidelines.

Service Responsibilities: Based on the faculty members rank service should be at the state national or international level. All MUSC DPT hybrid faculty will participate in the Program/Division and Departmental service.

Scholarship Responsibilities: Physical Therapy faculty regularly collaborate with educators in other MUSC departments and colleges. Substantial resources are available to support the successful applicants research line. Key centers and collaborative opportunities for scholarship include:
