Scope of Project
The New York State Workers Compensation Board (WCB) is undertaking a major Business Process Reengineering (BPR) initiative to replace its 20-year-old legacy Claims Information System with a modern scalable application. The project involves designing and implementing a new enterprise solution with multiple integration points across existing NYS technologies. The Software Architect will play a critical role in architecture design shared services creation and technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Project Management to meet objectives of the BIS/BPR project
- Lead and guide module development teams
- Facilitate and lead architecture and design meetings and technical reviews
- Collaborate with NYS ITS to identify and implement appropriate shared services
- Architect reusable shared services that may be leveraged by other NYS agencies
- Design and architect the technical environment for the Medical Portal
- Establish and enforce coding standards tools and platforms
- Lead code reviews and ensure best practices are followed
- Participate in ongoing knowledge transfer through design sessions development meetings and documentation
- Assist in producing design documents detailed specifications and training materials
Required/Preferred Skills:
Required Skills:
- 84 months of experience developing C# applications using Visual Studio
- 48 months of experience Core
- 48 months of experience developing MVC applications
- 48 months of experience with JavaScript and JavaScript libraries
- 60 months of experience writing and optimizing SQL queries (SQL Server)
- 36 months of experience writing and executing unit tests
- 36 months of experience using source control tools
- Expert-level experience designing multi-tier enterprise-scale application architectures
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in large government or public-sector environments
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Excellent communication skills for technical knowledge transfer
