POSITION TITLE:CAFETERIA MONITOR REPORTS TO:PRINCIPAL
OVER-TIME STATUS: NON-EXEMPT PAY GRADE:101
JOB DESCRIPTION
The position is responsible for monitoring and assisting students during lunch and assisting with the cleanliness of the cafeteria.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Manages students during meal service (behavior problems will be referred to the teacher).
- Communicates with students and school staff in a positive and professional manner utilizing appropriate customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Circulate throughout the cafeteria or in areas assisting students who need assistance.
- Assists with the cleanliness of the cafeteria.
- Encourage good table manners.
- Monitors students as they use the trash cans.
- Dismisses classes in an orderly manner at the scheduled time.
- Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Desire to put forth the best effort in all assigned duties. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students staff parents and the public.
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally up to 10 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects and some medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally up to 20 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping kneeling crouching reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting fingering and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions noise and hazards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in working with children.
