Our organisation

Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS) provides a Joint headquarters to plan prepare and conduct operations to support NATOs core tasks at the Joint Operational level as directed by SACEUR.

The Support Directorate is responsible for planning directing monitoring assessing and coordinating Support staff functions.

The J6 Cyberspace Division is responsible for leading the HQ in the global domain that covers Communication & Information Systems (CIS) and the information processed transmitted or stored information therein.

The Cyber Defence Branch is responsible for the coordination of Cyber Effects across the HQ and for the delivery of Cyber Defence of NATO Communication & Information Systems (CIS) for the Joint Task Force Headquarters (JTFHQ).

The incumbent has a special responsibility for staff function of ensuring operational readiness in the area of Communications and Information Systems Operations (CIS OPS). This role involves monitoring analysing and reporting on the status of JFCBS CIS in Area of Responsibility (AOR) to enhance decision-making and response capabilities against potential threats and disruptions.

The main duties of Analyst (CIS Operations Situational Awareness) are to:

Provide J6 CISOPS Situational Awareness. Monitor the Operational tools and Reports and Returns (R2) in order to provide updated Communication and Information Systems Operations Situational Awareness (CISOPS SA) Communication and Information Systems Operations NATO Common Operations Picture (CISOPS NCOP) response to CIS related Commanders Critical Information Requirements (CCIR) triggering or Request for Information (RFI) and editing of CISOPS related Warning Order (WARNO) /Fragmented Order (FRAGO).

Develop and maintain comprehensive situational awareness tools and dashboards that provide real-time visibility into the availability operational situation and security posture of Communication and Information Systems (CIS) in JFCBS and its Area of Responsibility (AOR).

Collaborate with Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) Information Assurance (IA) and NCIA to integrate analysis findings into NATO Common Operations Picture (NCOP) and risk assessments.

Coordinate on current CIS events that impact JFCBS mission with Joint All Domain Operations Centre (JADOC).

Provide expert analysis and advice on the implications of CIS status changes and potential threats to Commander (COM) JFCBS operational capabilities and missions coordinate the impact of CIS events to JADOC and wider HQ.

Produce detailed reports and briefings that offer actionable insights and recommendations to improve CIS resilience security and operational effectiveness.

Support the continuous improvement of CIS situational awareness procedures through the adoption of best practices and innovative technologies.

Act as CIS OPS watch keeper and information manager in the JADOC /Crises Joint Operations Centre (CJOC).

Follow up on J6 related activities within the NATO Responsive Measures (NRM) process in accordance with relevant standing operating instructions.

Oversee NATO Mission Networks within Joint Task Force Center Joint Operations Area (JTF-C JOA).

Provide presentations on the Cyberspace Operations related subjects / issues as tasked.

The incumbent may be required to undertake deployments in support of military operations and exercises and/or TDY assignments both within and without NATO boundaries. Such operational deployment may exceed 30 days duration up to 183 days in any period of 547 days and may be on short notice. For NATO International Civilian Staff acceptance of an employment contract linked to this post constitutes agreement to deploy in excess of 30 days if required.

Required Qualifications are:

Ø English good NATO Standard Language Proficiency 3333

(Listening Speaking Reading and Writing) in accordance with NATO standard agreement (STANAG) 6001.

NOTE: The work both oral and written in this post and in this Headquarters as a whole is conducted mainly in English.

Ø University Degree or equivalent in Information Technology or related field.

Ø Minimum 2 years professional experience in a Network Operations Center or similar.

Ø Minimum 3 years professional experience in CIS OPS Situational awareness.

Ø Minimum 3 years professional experience in IT/CIS capability development.

Ø Professional experience of CIS and IT structure.

Desirable Qualifications are:

Ø Knowledge of Operations Assessment.

Ø Knowledge of NATO CIS and IT structure.

Ø Completion of relevant courses/training.

The successful candidate possesses following personal attributes:

ü Good communication skills both oral and written - able to communicate at all levels;

ü Good analytical and judgement skills (sees basic relationships);

ü Good interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy;

ü Ability to collaborate and work with different stakeholders;

ü Good problem-solving skills.

The successful selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and is required to pass a medical examination before an employment contract offer will be released. The medical examination will take place with our medical consultant is required to determine if the recommended candidate is fit to perform the duties and is deployable to NATOs areas of operation.

This requirement is in support of the NATO 2030 agenda.

The selected staff member will get a definite duration contract regardless of the current contract with the exception of the case when they have more than 10 years of service in which case they will receive an indefinite duration contract.
