Note about the role:
TheCollection Management Managerplays a key leadership role within the Collection Management department at Pierce County Library System (PCLS). This position supports the department in building and maintaining a diverse accessible and community-responsive collection. As a member of the Collection Management leadership group the Collection Management Manager collaborates closely with colleagues across both the Collection Management and Customer Experience departments. Strong communication skills and a collaborative leadership style are essential as the role involves facilitating discussions leading meetings and supporting team development.
In partnership with the Collection Management Director this position helps identify strategic priorities guide problem-solving efforts and foster a culture of continuous learning. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to equity diversity access and inclusion (EDAI) and will be eager to apply these principles to all aspects of their workfrom cataloging practices to team engagement. This role also contributes to identifying and coordinating training opportunities on a wide range of topics relevant to collection management.

Hiring Range: $98069.91 - $113686 annually; Pay Grade Range: $98069.91 $144007 annually
Compensation
Pierce County Library System offers a compensation program which recognizes qualifications and experience relevant to each position. The starting pay is established typically within the hiring range below based upon the experience of the individual hired into the role. Our compensation package also includes annual increases for each additional year of experience and tenure in the role up to the maximum (current year maximum outlined in pay grade range above). Eligibility for overtime is exclusive to positions which are FLSA status non-exempt below.

Manages the librarys collection management day-to-day operations and services ensuring strategic alignment with system-wide goals. Oversees acquisitions cataloging digital resources vendor relationships staff and departmental operations. Supports community engagement labor relations and acts on behalf of the Director when needed.

Operational Oversight | Manages departmental operations budgets resources and vendor relationships. Oversee and manage vendor relationships and contractual agreements. Masters degree in Library and Information Science or related field.
Five years of experience in library collection management or related area.
Supervisory experience in a library or public service setting.
Must pass a background check.
Required:
Proficiency in integrated library systems (ILS) and cataloging tools.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook).
Ability to navigate web-based systems and electronic records.
Preferred:
Experience with data analytics and visualization tools.
Familiarity with digital resource platforms and vendor systems.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally with or without assistance.
Frequent sitting standing and reaching.
Use of standard office equipment.
Regular travel for meetings training or events with occasional travel outside of Pierce County.
