Project Description:
We are building a cross-company Google Cloud Platform called Energy Cloud as the central data hub for our digitalization efforts. The goal is to automate end-to-end business processes and enable data-driven decision-making. Our existing Google Cloud instance will be expanded by integrating further relevant data sources and establishing a modern scalable data architecture. Our interdisciplinary data science team shall be complemented by Data Engineers who help design sustainable solutions for data structures data pipelines and data products.

Activity Description:
You will join a small team of mainly data scientists. Our key priorities are implementing solid data structures and use cases concerning all areas of the company based on the highest business value i.a. energy procurement management of energy consumption battery storages optimization of technical facilities . The person to join the team will be inserted directly in a virtual team and will work closely with the German-based data scientists and business owners on 1-2 business areas. Work will mostly be virtual with dedicated onsite sessions in Germany. Key success factors in the position are not only relevant skills but also the ability to acquire business knowledge/terminology build an understanding of the relevant business data and understand the needs of business owners. Qualifications :

Expert Data Engineer (GCP)

Role Summary
We are looking for an Expert Data Engineer with strong hands-on experience in building data pipelines and data products on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The role focuses on implementation data modeling pipeline development and ensuring data quality and performance. Solution design and architecture skills are a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using GCP services (BigQuery Dataflow Pub/Sub Cloud Functions/Run).
  • Develop efficient SQL and Python-based transformations and workflows.
  • Model and optimize data structures for analytics reporting and downstream applications.
  • Implement data ingestion from APIs files and third-party systems.
  • Ensure data quality monitoring testing and documentation across the pipeline lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and business stakeholders to understand requirements acquire knowledge about business data and terminology and deliver data products.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with GCP (BigQuery Cloud Storage Dataflow Pub/Sub).
  • Expert SQL skills and solid Python development experience.
  • Deep understanding of ETL/ELT concepts data modeling and pipeline orchestration.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g. Cloud Composer/Airflow).
  • Ability to write clean maintainable production-grade code.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD version control and testing best practices for data pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).

Nice-to-Have

  • Basic solution design or architecture knowledge ability to contribute to designs when needed.
  • Experience with common SAP modules.
  • Familiarity with BI tools or data product concepts.
  • Experience with dbt.
