Viva Energy Australia have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our team and provide expert legal advice and support across a diverse range of transactions and strategic initiatives. This role will primarily focus on our Convenience & Mobility (Retail) business where youll partner with stakeholders to navigate complex legal matters ensure compliance and enable business growth.
Youll play a critical role in shaping commercial outcomes mitigating risk and delivering practical solutions that align with our long-term objectives.
Responsibilities & Requirements
Convenience & Mobility (Retail):
- Provide legal advice on contract interpretation risk management and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Draft and review a variety of commercial agreements.
- Advise on advertising/marketing campaigns and customer competitions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure legal support aligns with business objectives and mitigates potential risks.
General Legal Support:
- Provide strategic legal advice to senior management and other departments within the organisation.
- Stay updated on relevant legal developments and support compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel and other third-party advisors.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent; admission to practice law in Australia.
- Current Australian Practising Certificate.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in commercial/corporate law gained within private practice or in-house (preferably within the convenience retailing or energy sectors).
- In-depth knowledge of the Australian Consumer Law with experience in competition law a plus.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- High level of integrity professionalism and attention to detail.
