DescriptionThe Offsite Endoscopy Specialist assists physicians and RNs with procedures Gastrointestinal procedures.
Responsibilities- Performs and records patients vital signs such as blood pressure pulse temperature and respirations.
- Documents intake and output and other data as assigned.
- Sets up equipment and assists physician and RN with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including but not limited to Upper Endoscopy colonoscopy ERCP manometry.
- Checks equipment function for use during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Cleans disinfects and/or sterilizes equipment and accessories according to Infection Control guidelines. Documents all processing activities to appropriate logs.
- Maintains processing machines with scheduled filter changes.
- Troubleshoots equipment and scope problems. Prepares and arranges for repairs with manufacturer.
- Performs clinical procedures such as specimen collection EKG application of post-mortem care and maintenance of skin integrity.
- Prepares specimens by carefully labeling and entering proper information in applicable systems.
Qualifications- HS/GED and completion of an approved medical assistant training program
- Some experience in a healthcare setting preferred
- Certification as a Medical Assistant from an approved school or equivalent training and experience.
