JOB SUMMARY

The Liberty County Tax Commissioner is accepting applications for a full-time Tax Clerk. This position performs clerical and customer service duties related to the collection of property taxes.


MAJOR DUTIES

  1. Collects and processes tax on real property personal property mobile homes vehicles and timber.
  2. Receives processes and maintains related records and documents.
  3. Responds to taxpayer inquiries by telephone email and in person; provides information related to tax statements penalties interests and tax procedures.
  4. Maintains cash drawer. How much cash is handled on a weekly basis
  5. Tracks and researches delinquent tax payments.
  6. Assists with tax sales procedures.
  7. Creates and updates department forms.
  8. Performs related duties.


KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

  1. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  2. Knowledge of office policies and procedures.
  3. Knowledge of property tax rules and regulations.
  4. Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  5. Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations.
  6. Skill in the use of such office equipment as a calculator facsimile machine copier typewriter and computer.
  7. Skill in dealing with the public and providing exceptional customer service.
  8. Skill in oral and written communication.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting standing or stooping.
  • The work is typically performed in an office.


Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Less than one (1) year of related experience required.


SALARY AND BENEFITS

The annual compensation for this position starts at $37648 ($18.10/hour). The typical work schedule is 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. The Liberty County Tax Commissioners Office is located in downtown Hinesville Georgia.
