About the position
NCE is introducing Kids Clubs with fresh energy clearer focus and a stronger connection to what families want. Heres whats new in 2025 Fall Kids Flyer
- Clubs (new name) for the whole semester-mid-Semester until Winter Break
- Longer hours until 4:30 or 5:00 to accommodate parents work schedules
- Parents/caregiver focus groups and surveys at schools. Maintain contact with interested parents as ad hoc advisors.
- Maintain active conversation with principals and their designees from the school-based afterschool organizations.
About the position
To manage this relationship-centered model we will employ one to three part-time Community Specialists who are led by the Community Innovation Leader. Returners retirees and other talented community-based people who want to work part-time will build relationships with school communities learn their subject and schedule needs and develop and manage the targeted subject area clubs including sourcing and recommending instructors promoting clubs and being on site to assure club quality and safety.
What a Community Specialist Does
- Builds relationships with parents PTOs school administrators afterschool programs to understand wants and needs of the community
- Administers surveys focus groups and other vehicles to get community feedback Determines clubs that the community wants and secure instructors and space for them Works collaboratively with the marketing designer to market clubs to build strong enrollment Writes informative and enticing club descriptions for catalogue and website.
- Is present for clubs one or more days a week to ensure quality safety and school/student/family connections
- Enters new clubs in the registration system
- Sets pricing and instructor compensation in accordance with NCE guidelines
How a Community Specialist Grows
Community Specialists are mentored by the Community Innovation Leader and receive consultation from the Executive Director. They leverage their professional and personal experience and strengths to hone skills in relationship management marketing program development finance and more. They become integral members of the NCE team and important allies to the school communities they serve.

- Innovative creative and resourceful
- A good listener and able to convert input into action
- Patient kind and overall good with kids and adults
- Flexible and able to adapt to unexpected situations
- Detail oriented and able to multi-task
Qualifications
- Familiar with PTO structures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in G-suite and Microsoft Office
- Valid drivers license
- Knowledge of small business operations a plus
Supervision
Community specialists are supervised by and receive mentoring and development from the Community Innovation Leader primarily and Executive Director secondarily.
Compensation and Work Hours
The focus of this position is the school year with work starting in summer ideally and continuing through the end June. Estimated hours per week are an average of 8 hours including on site with clubs with some weeks being more and some being less including on site with clubs.
Monetary compensation is $6000 to $8000 stipend annually depending on start date and portfolio managed.
