2 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
Bracknell Forest Borough Council is seeking a qualified Lawyer to join its legal service on a temporary basis.
The postholder will provide professional legal advice and support primarily in the areas of contract and procurement law supporting the Councils services to deliver compliant and effective outcomes.
This is a predominantly remote working role with an initial requirement to attend the Bracknell office to collect IT equipment.
The role is offered on a part-time basis (22 hours per week) with working days negotiable.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Provide legal advice and support on contract and procurement matters.
Draft review and advise on a range of contracts agreements and procurement documentation.
Ensure procurement activities comply with relevant legislation regulations and council policies.
Support council departments with legal risk management and governance requirements.
Advise officers on contract variations extensions and dispute issues.
Assist with interpretation and application of public sector procurement rules.
Liaise with internal stakeholders to support service delivery and decision-making.
Maintain accurate legal records and documentation in line with council procedures.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet service deadlines and priorities.
Skills/Experience:
Proven experience in contract law within a public sector or similar environment.
Strong knowledge of procurement law and public sector procurement processes.
Experience drafting reviewing and negotiating contracts.
Ability to provide clear practical and commercially aware legal advice.
Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage workloads independently and meet deadlines.
Additional Information:
Part-time 22 Hr/week (days negotiable).

Qualified Solicitor Barrister or Legal Executive (essential).
Proven experience in contract law within a public sector or similar environment. Strong knowledge of procurement law and public sector procurement processes.
