Position Overview:
The Micro Lab Technician performs routine and non-routine analytical chemistry and microbiological tests according to documented procedures. Further the Micro Lab Technician will also conduct environmental and other sampling plans as given by laboratory leadership. Work is primarily conducted in a laboratory environment. Adherence to Good Documentation Practices and Good Laboratory Practices is critical including maintenance of a clean safe and sanitary lab environment. When necessary the technician will work in other environments and will adhere to any PPE or GMP requirements for those areas.
The Micro Lab Technician will report to and operate under the guidance of the Micro-Analytical Lab Supervisor.
The Micro Lab Technician will be required to work scheduled hours according to their designated shift. The technician is also aware that overtime may be necessary to cover vacations or to fit business needs. The technician may also be required to work holidays or other shifts as needed and should be flexible in their work schedules.
Essential Job Functions:
Chemistry analysis of raw ingredients in-process product samples and finished product samples
Microbiological testing on finished product samples
Raw ingredient and product sampling
Incubation monitoring and post-incubation sample analysis
Sampling of facility water systems and monitoring for microbial activity
Air-quality sampling in laboratories and facilities
Environmental surface swabbing
Microbiological testing in support of environmental and sanitation programs
Calibration and/or validation of laboratory equipment
Documentation of lab activities and test results
Other non-routine chemistry and microbiological testing as required

Education Training & Experience:
An Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in food science or other related science fields is preferred.
Food chemistry and microbiological testing experience a plus.
Will take into consideration past work experience for this position.
At a minimum on-the-job training should last 8-9 weeks.
Requirements:
Strong Computer and Math skills with emphasis on Excel
Good Communication and Teamwork skills
Basic knowledge of microbiology and chemistry sciences
Strong reading comprehension and attention to detail
Understanding of GDPs GLPs and awareness of quality assurance best practices
Working Conditions:
Standing/Walking up to 100% of the shift
Indoors/Laboratory
Pay Range: $18.00-23.00 (based on experience); For the PM shift there is a $1.00 Shift Differential for this position.
