Salary Range:$51508 - $71046 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary
Air Force (AF) ROTC UCCS Operating Location (OL) 105A for AFROTC Detachment 105 is a leadership program that falls within the College of Education (COE). The Director of Academic Support (DAS) is a highly productive professional who provides direct support to the department chairperson (professor of aerospace studies) and is the continuity in the department due to high turnover of Air Force personnel. Through unique events and projects the DAS provides broader administrative support for the rest of the cadre team. The DAS serves a critical role in assisting in financial management including budgetary controls spending authority and accountability of state funds. This position serves as HR liaison for the cadre/faculty that are hired and out-processed through the department. Other areas of engagement will accomplish the AFROTC mission within the university framework while advocating on the departments behalf. The DAS will function as the university liaison between UCCS and CU Boulder UCCS and AF Detachment 105 Cadre and UCCS cadets as well as between the COE Dean and Cadre.
The DAS is responsible for the posting recruiting interviewing hiring onboarding and supervision of student employees/interns. The DAS is responsible for the onboarding of all cadre assigned to UCCS and will create a process for the 2yrs turnover of new educational officers (reassignments). The position actively monitors department operations to analyze program issues related to AFROTC operations within the university environment. This position serves as a member of the department strategic planning team. The DAS oversees OL-105A to ensure they are consistent and in compliance with the host school (CU Boulder-AF Detachment 105) program and recruiting officers requirements. The DAS serves as primary continuity for the department by overseeing and managing IT addition this position advises cadet activity officers with event planning and advises cadets on university department and AFROTC processes and requirements.
Essential Functions
The duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Management Planning and Training
- Serve as primary liaison between the AFROTC department and the university community for services such as human resources (HR) parking IT and voice communications facilities academic scheduling and space optimization.
- Synthesize university needs with ROTC needs to accommodate both within the academic environment.
- Serve as a member of the department strategic planning team to determine the future direction of the department of aerospace studies.
- Analyze management concerns on program specific issues related to AFROTC operations within the university environment prepare reports of findings and resolve discrepancies.
- Develop establish procedures organize and implement work processes for the program to ensure the office runs smoothly; facilitate the negotiation of MOUs as needed with various other CU departments.
- Instruct new personnel on customary procedures and practices to ensure compliance with university military and department policies based on interpretation of program guidelines.
- Determine develop and implement training needs for faculty and staff in a constantly changing academic and military environment; resolve problems answer questions and provide information by applying corporate knowledge of procedures and practices to ensure consistent operation of the department on a daily basis.
- Determine relevant relationship between requests for information/appropriate for department members assign tasks and monitor process for completion.
- Ensure all mandatory training for university is completed.
- Communicate and negotiate as intermediary between the program and pertinent university departments.
- Coordinate special events including staff offsite meetings dignitary visits commissioning events and morale events.
- Provide supervision of cadets.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with AFROTC Det 105 annually review OL agreements meet with host college officials as required to maintain enrollment and annually submit/review/update course catalog descriptions for UCCS as mandated by AFROTC HQ.
- Create and maintain ownership of OL-105A website acting as a UCCS hub to the main AFROTC Detachment 105 site.
- Conduct training(s) and authorize editing access to the site as needed; ensure compliance with OIT guidelines and recommended trainings.
- Coordinate logistics for cadet and cadre travel to host detachment.
- Coordinate logistics for base visits training events and other campus visits.
- Negotiate and execute contract with vendor for travel.
Budget Management
- In coordination with the department chairperson dean and vice provost of undergraduate education and the OUE director of operations establish a budgetary plan by identifying requirements specifying priorities analyzing past expenditures and forecasting future department needs.
- Execute all UCCS expenditures for this departments budget.
- Provide Mentorship to UCCS cadets as it relates to their cadet budget spending.
- Ensure various budget resources are expended in an efficient and ethical manner by interpreting state and federal guidelines and ensure fiscal compliance with university policy.
- Request budget allocations negotiate and review contracts with suppliers reconcile expenditures and commit funds.
- Approve funding for official functions.
- Create and manage budget for OL-105A office; manage supply ordering and equipment needs.
- Generate and reconcile financial postings and reports.
- Work with CU Foundation UCCS Advancement and Detachment 105 to set-up/create scholarships.
- Create scholarship application and distribution process and function as chair of the scholarship committee.
- Effectively oversee OL-105A scholarships including the creation of and implementing awarding parameters. Review/maintain knowledge of fund agreements and award guidelines to ensure compliance.
- Work closely with CU Foundation and UCCS Advancement on maintaining good relations with all donors and utilizing funds completely and appropriately.
- Work with UCCS Alumni and Detachment 105 to create a UCCS AFROTC alumni database.
Campus Liaison
- Provide executive support to the cadre assigned to UCCS.
- Interpret university rules regulations and policies.
- Serve as advisor to COE Dean and AF cadre on campus resource allocation.
- Interpret explore solutions to problems and provide alternatives with justification for recommended courses of action to the COE dean and cadre for approval.
- Manage all Persons of Interest (POIs).
- Maintain documentation and files for OL-105A in accordance with campus and detachment requirements.
- Create onboarding process.
- Onboard all cadre assigned to UCCS.; 2 yrs assignments/rotation.
- Create and maintain MOUs between OL-105A and UCCS (i.e. Campus Recreation) and Detachment 105.
- Coordinate and track UCCS Cadets AFROTC Detachment 105 volunteering requirements.
- Function as POC for UCCS with all things pertaining to the OL-105A and host detachment.
- Attend Initial Planning Review (IPR) meetings with detachment leadership in CU Boulder.
Academic Enrollment
- Assist recruiting officer in interpreting school-related policies and instructing applicants with enrollment admissions requirements.
- Negotiate and communicate with UCCS cadre cadets and Dean of COE to ensure they are consistent and in compliance with the host detachment.
- Review Air Force requirements and documents and documenting and disseminating materials.
- Schedule classrooms resolve registration issues and provide guidance on all transcripts and other necessary documents to and from UCCS and Detachment 105.
- Create and assist in Marketing/Enrollment efforts.
- Provide Mentorship to UCCS cadets as it relates to the program and their academic requirements.
- Guide cadets on enrollment process for UCCS and Detachment 105.

- Higher education (college/university) administrative experience is highly desirable.
- Military familiarity and/or experience is highly desirable.
- The ideal candidate has budget experience such as planning and maintaining a budget as well as experience with purchasing and procurement policies and regulations.
- The ideal candidate has proven IT experience especially website content management and computer graphics experience for marketing and promotional purposes.
