KEY OBJECTIVE:
We are seeking a VP Marine Manager to join the Middle Market Commercial Insurance practice in Canada. We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated and results oriented with solid business and underwriting acumen. This Strategic and dynamic leader will be responsible for driving profitable growth of the Commercial Insurance Marine Manager is responsible for underwriting hiring retention performance management compensation technical training coaching and development of underwriting staff.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Driving profitable growth with brokers throughout Canada for marine products including Ocean Cargo Builders Risk Fine Arts Contractors Equipment Motor Truck Cargo Transit Installation Floaters Equipment Dealers and other Inland Marine coverages
- Collaborating with underwriters operations claims marketing and home office management as necessary
- Directing the day-to-day operation of the marine underwriting team
- Providing guidance/expertise and developing team members
- Performance management
- Marketing and broker relationships
- Expense management
- Identifying account rounding opportunities for other Chubb business units
- Focused knowledge and experience in Inland and Ocean Marine underwriting with a solid background in risk analysis
- Knowledge and proficiency with technical underwriting coverage products and pricing strategies
- Ability to develop implement and negotiate price/rate coverage terms and conditions to produce profitability book growth and successful producer relations
- Strong sales and marketing skills are critical; must be able to demonstrate successful broker management including building maintaining and managing producer and customer relationships.
- Ability to identify opportunities for growth within new and existing production sources
- A proven track record of effective interaction to include all levels of customers and collaboration with a team of underwriters claims and loss control personnel.
Qualifications10 years of commercial underwriting experience
Deep knowledge of the Canadian marine insurance marketplace and distribution landscape.
Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Demonstrated strategic and creative thinking abilities
Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external business partners at all levels
Demonstrated project leadership skills
Travel: This position requires travel across Canada for approximately 25% of the time.
