The Role:
TheHuman FactorsScreens & Virtual Controls Engineeris apart oftheHuman Interface Designorganization responsible forensuring intuitivein-vehicle screen customer interactions. This role focuses on evaluating digital control interfaces throughout the UI screendesign developmentprocess and supports continuous improvements to existing Operating Systems.Thisroleadvocatesfor customer usability applies Human Factors criteria to screen based controls and leverages user data analysis to inform design decisions. Success in this position requires strong collaboration across Design Product ProgramManagementand Quality teams.The ideal candidate is passionate about deliveringauserfocused experienceand has a solid foundation in Human Factors and UI principles.
What Youll Do:
Review UIscreendesignsinFigmaacrossOperating Systems andprioritized domainstoperformHuman Factorsevaluationsthroughout design deliverable gates.
Translate evaluation findings intoactionable design recommendationsthat enhancecustomer usability and shapethe in-vehicle screenand virtual control experience.
Partner closely with UI Designers to proactively apply Human Factors Best Practices Design Systems and Control Strategy Plan adhering toknownautomotive safety standards and regulatory guidance.
Provideand synthesizecustomerdata including lessons learnedtosupportDesign rationale& Product Management roadmapsstrategiesand Product Requirement Documents (PRD).
Request and coordinate customer clinics or surveys collaborating with Human Factors Usability Design Research and GlobalCustomerResearchteamstogather customer insights when needed.
Participate inregularVehicleOperating SystemDesign reviewmeetingscontributing todiscussions anddecisionswhile focusing oncustomerusabilityand intuitive interaction.
Engagein Program Management analysis meetingsand ensureaccuratetracking of Human Factors recommendations inJiracapabilityand design tickets.
CommunicateissueswithinHuman Factors Triage Escalation and Director meetingsto driveresolution.
Serve as the liaison for Human FactorsVehicle Programsby providing status updates on customer reach andvisibilityofin-screen control content.
Your Skills & Abilities Needed (Qualifications):
Bachelors degree in HumanFactors User ExperiencedesignEngineeringor related field
3 years of experience in Human Factors HMIdesignor User Experience
Strong understanding ofhuman factors principlesandautomotive HMI design
Ability totranslate user research into actionable design requirements
Proficiencyinproblem-solvingwith excellentverbal writtenand visual communication skills
Demonstratestrong interpersonal skillswith the ability to partnerwithcross-functional teamsand leaddiscussions
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Masters degree
Experience withFigmaor similar design tools
ProficiencyinJirafor tracking tasks and supporting workflow documentation
Hands on experienceusingNX orTcVIS
Knowledge ofautomotive HMI standards including ISOSAEand FMVSS
