Job Summary

Position Summary

Responsible for all HVAC on campus. Duties include preventative maintenance service and repair on all systems.

Salary: Appropriate placement on ACCS Salary Schedule E2 Grade 03: $45220 - $62710

(Salary within this range is determined by your documented years of full-time related work experience)

Work Hours
Monday through Thursday 6:00 a.m. 3:30 p.m.; Friday 6:00 a.m. 10:00 a.m.
Adjustments to the scheduled work hours may be made by the appropriate administrator.

  • Copy of Certification in Universal Refrigerant
Application materials must provide documentation that the applicant meets all minimum qualifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Check motor and belts; lubricate bearings and motors replace as needed; change filters.
  2. Calibrate electric and pneumatic thermostats and controls.
  3. Troubleshoot monitor and set up schedules for energy management systems.
  4. Perform compressor change out; repair compressors.
  5. Repair and/or replace motors pumps; set firing rate on gas-fired equipment.
  6. Service steam and hot water boilers clean air conditioning and heating coils.
  7. Repair and replace electrical controls.
  8. Prepare and solder metals; weld and braze as required.
  9. Maintain chemical compositions in equipment.
  10. Install and maintain air conditioning and heating equipment.
  11. Run conduit for all HVAC equipment.
  12. Size and pull wire for all HVAC equipment and make connection.
  13. Install disconnects and breakers for all HVAC equipment.
  14. On-call on evenings and weekends on a shared basis with other HVAC team members.
  15. Perform all duties with professionalism.
  16. Performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years of post high school training in refrigeration heating and air conditioning and a minimum of three (3) years experience with commercial and industrial equipment and/or experience with air conditioning hearing and refrigeration is required OR a minimum of an Associate degree from an accredited institution in HVAC/Refrigeration is required ORa minimum of a Long HVAC Certificate from an accredited institution is required.
  2. Certification in Universal Refrigerant is required.
  3. Possession of a valid drivers license and the ability to be insurable is required.

  1. Knowledge of principles of air conditioning refrigeration and heating;
  2. Knowledge and ability to size wire and conduit for all HVAC equipment;
  3. Knowledge of math skills to figure heat load electrical values and job material needed;
  4. Knowledge of current energy management software and practices;
  5. Ability to communicate with co-workers vendors and wholesalers about job-related problems;
  6. Ability to maintain logs fills out work reports and order parts
  7. Ability to read schematics wiring diagrams blueprints work orders
  8. Ability to work non-standard hours;
  9. Ability to operate in a professional manner at all times;
  10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students other employees and the public;
  11. Customer Service Orientation A focus on being friendly and patient in responding to customer needs;
  12. Willingness to maintain flexibility in order to meet customer needs;
