Job Summary
The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing maintaining troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems and equipment within the plant to ensure safe and efficient operations. This role requires strong technical expertise adherence to safety standards and the ability to work collaboratively with the maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
Electrical Maintenance & Repair
- Install maintain and repair electrical wiring control systems and related components for industrial machinery and plant equipment.
- Diagnose electrical issues using testing devices and interpret schematics to identify root causes and implement solutions.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems to reduce equipment failures and downtime.
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
- Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns and emergencies ensuring minimal disruption to production.
- Analyze and resolve electrical faults in motors drives PLCs and automated systems.
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members to address complex technical issues.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all electrical work complies with provincial electrical codes company policies and safety regulations.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following lockout/tagout procedures and using appropriate PPE.
- Participate in safety meetings and report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of electrical repairs inspections and preventive maintenance activities.
- Update wiring diagrams and schematics as modifications are made.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding equipment status and required repairs.
Continuous Improvement
- Recommend and implement improvements to electrical systems for increased reliability and efficiency.
- Stay current with new technologies and best practices in industrial electrical systems.
Qualifications & Skills
- Red Seal Industrial Electrician certification or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes PLC programming and automated control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Work Conditions
- Onsite in Delta.
- Exposure to high noise dusty environments and varying temperatures.
- May require working at heights or in confined spaces.
- Flexible to work overtime or on-call as needed.
