We are seeking an engaging and dedicated Music/Chorus Teacher to join our team and inspire students through the joy of music.
Position Summary
The Music/Chorus Teacher will design and implement a comprehensive music curriculum for grades K8 lead choral ensembles and support school-wide performances and events. The ideal candidate is passionate about arts education skilled in classroom management and able to create a positive inclusive environment where students can develop technical skills creativity and confidence.
Responsibilities
Develop and deliver standards-aligned instruction in general music and chorus for grades K8.
Teach fundamental music concepts vocal techniques music literacy and performance skills.
Direct and prepare students for concerts programs and community performances.
Select age-appropriate repertoire and plan rehearsals effectively.
Collaborate with school leadership and staff to support multidisciplinary projects and school events.
Maintain a positive structured classroom environment with high expectations for student conduct and engagement.
Assess student progress provide feedback and communicate with parents as needed.
Maintain instruments classroom materials and performance equipment.
Uphold the mission values and expectations of the charter school.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Music Education or a related field required.
Valid teaching license or eligibility for licensure preferred (state-specific).
Experience working with elementary and middle school students preferably in a school setting.
Proficiency in vocal instruction; instrumental proficiency is a plus.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Ability to lead performances and coordinate events.
Commitment to fostering a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment.
Preferred Skills
Experience in choral directing.
Ability to accompany students on piano or guitar.
Familiarity with charter school environments.
Strong organizational and program-planning abilities.
