BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The United Nations World Food Programme (UN WFP) is the worlds largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. The core policies and strategies that govern WFP activities are: save lives in emergency situations; improve the nutrition and quality of life of the most vulnerable people; and to help build assets and promote the self-reliance of poor people and communities particularly through conditional food for work and training programmes.



The challenges of working in difficult conditions to bring much needed food and support to our recipients while inherently rewarding can place a great deal of pressure and stress on WFP staff. As a part of a multidisciplinary team under the Staff Wellness Division the Staff Counselling Unit is committed to the promotion of psychological and physical health in the broadest sense so staff can continue to function at high levels in order to meet the mandate of the organization. We do this by identifying and addressing psychological risk factors in the workplace and through the provision of counselling services to staff members and their dependents.



The WFP Wellbeing platform contains information on a broad spectrum of health-related issues giving staff the tools for self assessment tips on addressing issues identified the ability to contact any of the Wellness Team members and information specific to several duty stations. The philosophy of the platform is that quality of information is directly related to wellbeing. To this end the Wellness Division has partnered with global regional and local HR to develop country specific pages that act as a digital welcoming package providing quality information about the duty station and has partnered as well with several UN agencies which has installed this functionality and content in their own digital spaces. The Wellbeing platform has become a benchmark for the Organization and the 8 partners who follow WFPs lead. More UN agencies are interested in joining the initiative.



Since migrating the platform into WFP IT environment the platform underwent a full refactoring phase in 2025 to align with the latest TEC guidelines and highest 2026 the platform will develop further functionalities such as Forums and provide updates to all platform partner agencies for both web based and mobile versions of the platform.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Wellbeing Platform consultant will report to the Chief of Counselling based in HQ. We are looking for a passionate highly organised and open-minded individual. Flexibility multitasking and proactiveness are necessary for this role.

The Wellbeing Platform consultant will be responsible for performing the following duties:

  • Coordinate the administration and maintenance of the platform.
  • Ensure the first level support and liaise with for the partner agencies manage the Editorial Board meetings representing WFP as well as inter-agency shared repository.
  • Coordinate the onboarding of new partners.
  • Coordinate and contribute to the preparation of UN-to-UN Agreements and other official documents in compliance with WFP legal framework.
  • Support the refactoring of the platform.
  • Oversee the financial operations and budget lines related to the platform.
  • Produce financial/budgeting reports.
  • Support the design and coordinate the implementation of forums and other platform related features and projects.
  • Contribute towards the development of the platform through the creation of local and other types of pages and content ensuring alignment with the project and guidelines issued.
  • Support the identification engagement management and follow-up of potential countries that partner with the platform to have their pages. Collaborative and engaged work with local teams.
  • Provide project management support to local focal points in offices and monitor their updates.
  • Deliver Content Management System and other platform related training.
  • Provide analytical data and presentation materials to Staff Counsellors offices and partners regularly.
  • Produce relevant and quality audiovisual products to facilitate training and dissemination of the information and communication around the platform.
  • Manage the images and maps repositories and platform communication channels.
  • Manage the external accesses to the platform and databases to keep track of them.
  • Collaborate with the WEL COM team and support the platform communication campaigns.
  • Organize content management system accesses and centralize communication with platform designers (external vendor).
  • Create and maintain platform databases which ensure appropriate updates and follow-up of pages.
  • Create and follow monitoring systems ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained.
  • Perform the technical support to the Team Support Programme project pilot and development.
  • Support FLOCK (Family Liaison Outreach Community with or without kids) activities and projects if needed. Liaise with FLOCK program consultant and FLO about family pages in the platform.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards related to confidentiality consistent with the Wellness Code of Ethics
  • Other as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

Bachelor degree preferably in the social health or related field

Experience:

3 years of experience or more

Knowledge & Skills:

Must be an excellent team player and value working with a multidisciplinary and culturally diverse team. Project management and diplomacy capabilities. Very good working knowledge of technology tools such as PowerPoint Excel and Word. Excellent communication skills (oral and written). Ability to operate effectively

across organizational boundaries and establish and maintain effective working

relationships in a multi-cultural multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity. Open-mindedness creativity and innovation are key to the success of this platform and the position.

Languages:

Proficiency in writing and verbal communication in English and proficiency in a second UN language. Knowledge of other UN languages is advantageous.
