Sr. Component Engineer for Design Services (Electrical Engineer)

About the Role

We are seeking a Sr. Component Engineer with strong expertise in electronics to join our Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) this role you will evaluate alternate low-cost high-quality components analyze BOMs for supply chain risk and ensure compliance with corporate strategies and obsolescence considerations. You will also leverage AI and programming skills to develop tools that optimize future workflows.

This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects across key sectors including Automotive Transportation and Healthcare where innovation and reliability are critical to success.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive component engineering services for PCBA projects.

• Analyze electrical and electro-mechanical components and BOMs for risk cost and compliance.

• Applies AI knowledge to develop optimized ways for doing standard CE Analysis (LCRA/RoHS Approved Vendor List Expansion)

• Apply knowledge of analog and digital electronics to support design and manufacturing.

• Develop and maintain tools using Python and Excel VBA to optimize component analysis.

• Participate in value engineering activities: design reviews teardowns supplier interaction and NPI support.

• Work together in a multidisciplinary team that supports Jabil sites worldwide

• Represent the company in technical discussions with customers and suppliers.

• Support manufacturing builds prototypes and production releases.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or related field (or equivalent experience) // Technical school diploma with relevant experience may be considered.

Experience:

• 35 years in component engineering or related roles preferably in PCBA environments.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Strong knowledge of electronic components circuit design intent and BOM screening.

• Familiarity with supply chain risk analysis and cost optimization.

• Proficiency in Python Excel VBA and component search tools.

• Solid understanding of RoHS AVL expansion and obsolescence management.

• Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Soft Skills:

• Excellent communication skills for internal and external collaboration.

• Problem-solving mindset and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
