ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.

Performs complex duties in the repair maintenance and installation of plumbing systems and backflow prevention devices in state buildings.
Recommends energy-saving changes.
Installs maintains and repairs fire sprinkler systems and irrigation systems.
Oversees the operation of steam boiler plants.
Works with engineers/contractors on new system design troubleshooting testing and startup of new systems.
Works carefully to follow all current Plumbing Codes/regulations for plumbing work to ensure that all installed systems pass inspections.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference will be given to those with a Journeyman Plumber license plus licensed backflow prevention testing and fire sprinkler system experience

KNOWLEDGE:

Thorough knowledge of plumbing system maintenance and repairs
Knowledge of State and Local plumbing codes.
Knowledge of multiple source heating &hydronic systems and applications.
Knowledge of acceptable practices methods and tools used inthe installation monitoring and repair of plumbing equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelors Degree

Experience:

0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Plumbing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Plumber

Education & ExperienceSubstitution:

3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Plumbing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Plumber

None

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
Ability to work in tight confined spaces
Ability to work comfortably at a variety of heights
Ability to walk great distances throughout the facility
