We are looking for Blast Operators Shotfirers and MPU Operators to join our Drill and Blast teams helping to drive productivity and achieve operational targets. What youll bring

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team

• Strong communication skills ability to work as a collaborative team safely and effectively under minimal supervision

• MPU and small loader experience is preferred

• A valid Australian C Class manual drivers license or higher.

• A strong team mindset with the ability to work safely and flexibly to meet business requirements.

• Appointed Shotfirer Authorisation (Shotfirers only)

Blast Crew & MPU Operators

• Experience operating stemming trucks priming and loading holes.

• Ability to operate MPU units for both ANFO and pumpable products.

• Strong attention to detail in daily stocktake of explosive products.

• Adhere to all Rio Tinto standards policies and procedures

• Actively foster and communicate a positive safety culture to promote safety awareness and compliance encouraging prioritisation of safety in all activities and operations

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying evaluating and implementing improvement opportunities utilising a range of Rio Tinto best practices

• Collaborate closely with other functions and stakeholders in the performance of duties

• Participate in all activities involving the use of explosive products including maintaining the standards of explosive compounds

• Operate the stemming truck

• Use electronic detonators as well as firing units

• Comply with the blast plan at all times

• Stocktake magazines

• Inspect equipment to ensure the correct working order and safety requirements

• Perform sampling duties as required

Shotfirers:

• Ensure compliance with blast legislation (such as Dangerous Goods Safety (Explosives) Regulations)

• Maintain the safe handling and execution of explosive use on bench

• Check blasting areas to ensure they meet safety regulations

• Obtaining and interpreting the blast plans

• Understanding the blast schedule to ensure all tasks are done to standard within the specified or scheduled time frame

• Inspect the blasting area to make sure all explosives have detonated

• On bench direction to blast operators to support the safe use of explosives

• Work with the Blast Supervisor and Coordinator to manage blasting activities
