Job Description Financial Aid Specialist (School of Nursing)
Location: Plainfield NJ 07061
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: MondayFriday 9:00 AM 5:00 PM
(Some late evenings may be required)
Position Summary
The Financial Aid Specialist supports the financial aid department in the development implementation and evaluation of student financial aid processes for the School of Nursing. This role ensures accurate compliant and timely administration of financial aid and serves as a primary resource for students seeking financial aid information.
Responsibilities
Assist the Director of Financial Aid with daily operations and program development.
Serve as an information resource for students regarding financial aid programs requirements and application procedures.
Prepare and distribute financial aid packets forms and application materials.
Support the maintenance and documentation of scholarship awards.
Stay up to date with federal state and institutional financial aid regulations.
Collaborate with admissions registration and fiscal departments to ensure accurate processing of financial aid packages.
Maintain effective communication and workflow across departments.
Interact professionally with students families visitors and staff.
Assist with student services events such as orientation graduation and other school-related activities.
Attend administrative staff meetings as required.
Perform additional duties and special projects assigned by leadership.
Adhere to organizational standards of behavior and professional competencies.
Skills & Requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Basic PeopleSoft experience (preferred).
Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
Understanding of education department procedures and student service operations.
Experience with FAFSA processing state grants (e.g. NJ Grants) and/or STARs.
Ability to process loans and reconcile financial aid packages.
Strong customer service and communication abilities.
