SUMMARY:

The Multimedia Communications Professional is a highly skilled detail-oriented professional who supports districtwide communications through writing multimedia production event support digital content management and stakeholder engagement. This role combines the creative strengths of a writer photographer and digital content creator with the organizational and operational functions needed to support a fast-paced Communications Department.

Working as part of a Multimedia Communications Professional team each contributor supports the work of the Executive Director of Communications & Community Partnerships and collaborates closely with the Webmaster/Videographer to ensure high-quality timely delivery of communications across multiple platforms.

This position requires strong writing abilities technical skills excellent organization confidentiality and the ability to build positive relationships with schools families media partners and the community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write edit and proofread a wide range of district communications including press releases newsletters publications scripts presentations web and social media content while supporting marketing and digital outreach efforts and ensuring all materials align with district brand standards.
  • Serve as a district photographer and support multimedia production by capturing and delivering high-quality photos and videos of events schools programs and district initiatives including associated editing needs.
  • Maintain organized digital archives of district photos videos and media assets.
  • Partner with the Webmaster/Videographer on production projects ensuring timely support and consistent visual quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of commitments sponsorships and community partnership engagements.
  • Provide routine support to ensure departmental functions run efficiently and professionally.
  • Assist in planning coordinating and executing district-sponsored events recognition programs celebrations and media opportunities.
  • Maintain dignitary lists and coordinate invitations RSVPs logistics and follow-up communications.
  • Support advisory councils for students teachers parents and community faith-based leaders including communications agendas minutes and documentation.
  • Support district fundraising and partnership initiatives including outreach to potential sponsors and ensuring their recognition.
  • Facilitate District recognitions and support internal and external recognition efforts including but not limited to public speaking for board meeting recognitions mass communications messaging and other events.
  • Support the use and upkeep of district communications systems digital signage messaging platforms and content management tools.
  • Assist in the creation of training tutorials and professional development opportunities across the district.
  • Maintain accurate contact lists for media partners stakeholder groups and internal users.
  • Assist in collection utilization and presentation of data to support engagement and communications goals
  • Support and troubleshoot issues related to teacher parent/guardian and administrator utilization of communications platforms.
  • Collaborate with other departments and vendors to ensure accurate data management and syncing with communications platforms.
  • Create and update content for district websites to ensure accuracy accessibility and brand alignment.
  • Support website audits maintenance and content improvements.
  • Assist in training and supporting school Communications Liaisons on website and social media best practices.
  • Monitor social media activity and engagement support content scheduling and ensure consistent district presence across platforms.
  • Track media coverage and share relevant stories with district leadership cabinet school board and principals.
  • Serve as part of the crisis response communications team supporting administrative functions communications information flow and collaborating with law enforcement and other agencies as necessary.
  • Coordinate media coverage interests and assist in responding to public information requests.
  • Maintain confidential files sensitive communications and personnel-related information with the highest level of discretion.
  • Support the Executive Director by managing calendars scheduling preparing meeting materials and ensuring accurate follow-through on communications tasks.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations reports and briefing documents.
  • Perform general office operations: maintaining inventory ordering supplies organizing files and supporting departmental workflow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Flexibility in scheduling is occasionally required as some duties and responsibilities may extend beyond the standard 8 a.m.- 5p.m. workday including board meetings recruitment events and Legislative Delegation meetings.

We are looking for candidates that have a high school diploma and at least two years experience in communications marketing journalism public relations multimedia production or related field; or equivalent experience. Applicants must demonstrate strong skills in writing content creation digital media or multimedia production and have experience working in fast-paced communications media or public-sector environments. A valid drivers license and the ability to travel to school and community locations are also required.

Experience in K-12 education public relations or government communications as well as familiarity with website management tools social media planning platforms videography and photography editing software and analytics tools is preferred. Knowledge of student information systems school district operations and communications workflows is also preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

The candidate must be able to write and edit content for press releases newsletters district publications messaging and website or social media posts. Responsibilities include editing scripts presentations and district communications to ensure accuracy consistency and clarity. The role also involves assisting with copywriting for marketing campaigns planned media digital outreach and public information materials. All written content must maintain and consistently uphold district brand standards.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and in the display and interpretation of assessment data. Ability to apply basic concepts of statistical analysis fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding in carrying out instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form. Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to quickly assess educator and administrative needs and provide timely feedback.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The ideal candidate will have excellent writing editing and proofreading abilities along with strong photography videography and editing skills. Proficiency with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite Microsoft Google Workspace Canva Venngage and similar platforms is essential. Candidates should be able to manage multiple projects prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines while demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse groups. A high level of organization accuracy and attention to detail is required as is the ability to navigate social media platforms analytics tools and CMS systems. The position also requires maintaining confidentiality exercising sound judgment and representing the district professionally in all public-facing communications and events.

Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Ability to apply knowledge and current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with administrators and educators. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to organize and implement a flexible work schedule in order to meet reporting deadlines. Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group. Ability to submit all requested reports and documentation in a timely manner and in accordance to scheduled deadlines. The position requires meeting deadlines and interacting with teachers and administrators. Some extended hours and multiple demands from several people are frequently required of the employee.

The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full time employment during the school year. Conditions of employment are adjusted for part time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year.
