SUMMARY: The Secondary Receptionist/Office Clerk is responsible for performing secretarial record keeping filing and reception duties independently and in accordance with procedural guidelines. This is a leave replacement position beginning January 28 2026 and continuing for 12 weeks.
ABOUT CHIEF LESCHI SCHOOLS:Formerly known as the Puyallup Tribal School Chief Leschi Schools was founded in 1976 to address the high dropout rate of the youth of the Puyallup tribe. It is the largest of seven tribal schools in the state of Washington and one of approximately 200 tribal schools in the United States. It is also one of the largest tribal schools to be funded by the Bureau of Indian Education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following:
- Operate as main office receptionist providing primary telephone coverage;
- Greets and provides information to visitors parents students and staff;
- Knowledgeable about school policies and procedures;
- Works with confidential information;
- Assists with student enrollment and re-enrollment;
- Assists in maintaining office appearance as well as materials and supplies;
- Perform routine clerical work with accuracy maintain clerical records; perform basic math calculations accurately accurate filing and preparing reports;
- Performs secretarial functions as necessary;
- Copies and duplicates materials;
- Generates correspondence to parents and students form office templates;
- Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school Diploma or GED
- One year clerical/receptionist experience which included regular customer service to the public.
- Experience and knowledge in word processing and proper use of office equipment is required.
- Working knowledge of Excel Word Outlook and Publisher software programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience working in an educational system.
- Prior experience utilizing customer service skills.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Successful criminal background clearance
Successful and/or clear drug screening
KNOWLEDGE OF:
School board policies and procedures
ABILITY TO:
- Ability to receive and respond to written and verbal communication appropriately.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Ability to function in a calm efficient fair and courteous manner with frequent interruptions and to exercise careful judgment diplomacy and tact in the performance of duties.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relations with other employees students parents and community members.
- The ability to work tactfully and harmoniously with fellow employees is essential.
- Possess good time management and organizational skills

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time. The employee must frequently reach with hands and arms and is regularly required to talk or hear; stand and/or walk; bend stoop twist squat and kneel; and use hands to finger handle feel and perform fine motor manipulation. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Anything over the weight limits should be done as a two-person lift or with a mechanical lift.
