Assistant Financial Controller

Main Purpose of Job

Provide assistance to the Senior Director Finance in relation to the co-ordination recording and reporting of all financial activities for IMG Media Ltd and be responsible for all financial activities relating to the three smaller entities in the UK (Seven League Ltd Cingularity Ltd IMG Sports Media Scotland). In addition assist with IMGs broader group reporting requirements internal controls and budgeting and support the annual group and statutory audit process.

Key Responsibilities

Financial reporting & Analysis:

• Managing all aspects of the general ledger and ensuring accounting practices are in compliance with companys policies

• Ability to lead direct & guide the team including necessary training and supervision to achieve the collective and individual goals.

• Play a vital role with period-end accounting and timely group reporting across IMG Commercial entities in the UK including various quarterly reporting packs Transfer Pricing calculations/estimates and tax submissions.

• Responsible for timely and accurate submission of balance sheet reconciliations for those entities.

• Contribute to the effective operations of Media control environment where applicable.

• Assist in drafting technical accounting work-papers

• Responsible for the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements for IMG Commercial entities in the UK

• Play a lead role for statutory audit for the UK IMG Commercial entities and assist with the group annual audit

• Ensure timely submission of other reporting requirements including CT VAT/GDST PAYE.

• Point of contact for the offshore shared service team (WNS) for activities related to those entities.

• Ensure HR related expenses are reviewed and recorded correctly including payroll P11d PSA Health insurance.

• Responsible for IMGs quarterly Withholding tax process entity balance sheet net downs SNTV (JV) Equity income calculations and identifying and estimating Onerous provisions for loss making contracts.

• Assist with entity cash flow forecasting.

• Ad-hoc project work as required

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Knowledge and Experience

Mandatory

• Proven 3-4 experience as assistant financial controller or other similar position

• Solid knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102/101) and regulations

• Knowledge or exposure to US GAAP/IFRS

• Knowledge or exposure to SOX controls/environment

• Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (financial closure reporting etc.)

• Confident and flexible team player with the ability to work with commercial staff across the organization

Desirable

• Previous team management experience

• Hands on experience of working within the media or sports rights industry

• Experience of working in a worldwide group

• Experience in using SAP accounting system

• Experience in using OneSource Tax Provision system

Skills and Abilities
