The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) invites qualified applicants to apply for the Mail Services Supervisor position.
Under general direction plans coordinates supervises and directs the activities of mail services operations and Joint Educational Transit (JET) delivery services including assisting with budget development and monitoring.
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following
Knowledge:
Rules regulations and rates of the USPS FedEx and UPS
Modern mail service practices and procedures including receipt sorting and distribution of mail and routing and delivery structure
Equipment used in mail processing
Standard desktop computer equipment
Principles and practices of employee selection supervision and performance evaluation
Principles and practices of budget development and monitoring
Fundamental employment laws codes and regulations including EEO FLSA FMLA and Cal/OSHA and applicable provisions of collective bargaining agreements
Competencies:
Decision Making Choosing optimal courses of action in a timely manner
Legal & Regulatory Navigation Understanding interpreting and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations
Professional & Technical Expertise Applying technical subject matter to the job
Safety Focus Showing vigilance and care in identifying and addressing health risks and safety hazards
Adaptability Responding positively to change and modifying behavior as the situation requires
Oral Communication Engaging effectively in dialogue
Writing Communicating effectively in writing
Customer Focus Attending to the needs and expectation of customers
Relationship Building Establishing rapport and maintaining mutually productive relationships
Managing Performance Ensuring superior individual and group performance
Allocating Resources Prioritizing the use of fiscal and material resources to maximize organizational performance
Project Management Planning and tracking projects to ensure they are on-time on-budget and achieve their objectives
Cultural Proficiency Modeling communication and interaction that respects and includes all individuals and their languages abilities religions and cultures
Required Education and ExperienceEducation:Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Experience:Three years of experience directing or coordinating mail services operations including one year of supervisory or lead experience.
Additional Requirements:A valid California drivers license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites is required.
Selection ProcessCandidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a Performance Exam and Structured Interview.
