The Northeast Health District Specialty Care Clinic is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary care team. This role provides advanced clinical care for people living with HIV. The Nurse Practitioner delivers high-quality patient-centered services under an approved Nurse Protocol Agreement with a delegating physician.


The ideal candidate is committed to reducing health disparities improving patient outcomes and providing compassionate evidence-based care in a public health setting.


As a Nurse Practitioner within the Specialty Care Clinic at the Georgia Department of Public Health you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary and specialty care services for people living with HIV and other infectious diseases in accordance with national clinical guidelines and state nurse protocol agreements.
  • Conduct complete physical examinations routine health assessments and episodic illness visits.
  • Order interpret and follow up on diagnostic and laboratory testing.
  • Initiate adjust and manage antiretroviral therapy (ART) and related medications ensuring adherence to national HIV treatment standards.
  • Deliver patient education and counseling on disease prevention treatment adherence medication management and overall wellness.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians nurses pharmacists social workers disease intervention specialists and case managers to support coordinated whole-person care.
  • Document clinical encounters thoroughly and maintain compliance with confidentiality requirements (HIPAA and Ryan White Program standards).
  • Participate in quality improvement activities case reviews clinical huddles and required training.
  • Support public health initiatives including outbreak response community outreach and harm-reduction strategies as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university or other education requirements approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
  • Current Georgia licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
  • National board certification in the appropriate specialty area as recognized by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
  • At least two (2) years of experience as a nurse practitioner OR two (2) years in a directly related role such as Public Health Advanced Practice RN 1 (HCP200) or equivalent.
  • Current CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification.
  • Clinical experience in HIV care infectious disease STI/STD management or sexual health services.
  • Experience working in public health community health or underserved populations.
  • Familiarity with Ryan White Program standards trauma-informed care or harm-reduction models.
