Key responsibilities include:
- Patient Monitoring: Continuously monitor vital signs (heart rate blood pressure oxygen saturation temperature) and the patients level of consciousness as they recover from anesthesia.
- Airway Management: Ensure a patent airway and adequate respiratory function intervening quickly if an obstruction or respiratory distress occurs.
- Symptom and Pain Management: Administer medications such as painkillers anti-nausea drugs and fluids to manage post-operative symptoms effectively and keep the patient comfortable.
- Assessment and Intervention: Assess surgical sites for bleeding or complications check dressings and perform physical assessments. Recognize adverse reactions to anesthesia or surgery and initiate appropriate emergency interventions.
- Documentation and Communication: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and communicate effectively with surgeons anesthesiologists and other healthcare team members regarding the patients condition and care plan.
