the opportunity
The Controller is a key leader within the Finance team responsible for overseeing the day-to-day Finance operations and partnering closely with the Director of Finance to drive financial strategy operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making. This role ensures the integrity of financial reporting enhances internal controls and drives cross-functional initiatives that will play a crucial role in supporting the companys long-term growth and profitability. The Controller is also responsible for developing annual budgets forecasts and explaining variances throughout the year.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of financial operations ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Develop and maintain KPI-tracking and reporting including follow-up of measures.
- Provide insight and support in capital planning financial modeling and scenario analysis.
- Provides detailed profitability analysis by customer and product line supporting strategic pricing sales planning and margin optimization initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales Engineering and Operations to drive financial accountability
- Monitor oversight of cash flow ensuring adequate liquidity and financing.
- Oversee standard cost setting ongoing maintenance new product development and variance analysis.
- Produces the annual budget and forecasts investigating variances throughout the year.
- Develop implement and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
- Review existing processes and recommend process improvements to gain efficiencies.
- Assist Human Resources with the financial aspect of payroll and benefit functions.
- Lead year-end review filing of tax returns 401(k) audit and other external audits.
- Develop team members by managing performance setting goals providing ongoing training and maintaining cross-functional relationships. Foster a culture of accountability accuracy and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related Finance degree
- CPA or CMA preferred
- Seven plus years of a combination of public accounting experience & finance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Positive attitude and high level of initiative to learn and perform the job
- Ability to read analyze and interpret financial reports.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting procedures and principles.
- Strong ability to think critically communicate clearly and effectively both verbally & in writing
- Coaches and trains direct reports to help improve their skills and abilities.
- Ability to maintain strong working relationships with other members of the team and the organization
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office products especially Excel
