Heres What You Need
Associate degree or Nursing Diploma required
BSN preferred
One-year experience as registered nurse in acute care setting required
2 years of Med/surg or Orthopedic RN experience in acute care setting (preferred)
RN Registered Nurse upon hire required.
Current BLS (required) prior to providing independent patient care required.
ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days required.
CPI training within 90 days of hire (required)
Strong med/surg experience including charge/preceptor skills (preferred)
ONC Orthopedic Nurse Certified within 2 years (preferred)
NICHE - Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders within 12 Months(preferred)
What You Will Do
The Charge Nurse
Will communicate and collaborate with all members of the health care team
Support and actively participate in shared governance/councils
committed to developing their individual knowledge and skills as well as advancing the profession of nursing and engaging in lifelong learning/development.
Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
directly assists leadership on a particular unit or units and shift by offering staff guidance and support maintaining a clean and safe work environment and ensuring unit operational tasks are completed.
Assesses the patient
Plans the care of the patient
Intervenes as appropriate
Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift inter-hospital and while expediting out of hospital transfers.

36 bed Orthopedic Trauma/ Joint Replacement Unit in the brand new Justin Tower- We provide care for patients with trauma/burn and orthopedic injuries. The unit cares primarily for adolescent and adult patients who have traumatic injuries orthopedic trauma and burns (20% or less). Additionally patients requiring telemetry monitoring may be cared for on this unit. Typical patient injuries can be comprised of rib fractures distal orthopedic injuries traumatic spinal injuries closed head injuries with and without state of confusion traumatic amputations hemothoraxs pneumothoraxes and etc.
