Minimum Qualifications

Five years of production experience in television radio or multimedia; OR

A bachelors degree in film studies broadcasting digital media cinematography or communications plus two years of production experience in television radio or multimedia.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

The ideal candidate is a self-starter and collaborative storyteller with strong writing and editorial skills and a passion for public affairs content and documentary storytelling. The TV Senior Producerwill pitch and develop topics for public affairs series such as Louisiana Spotlight and will occasionally direct and produce documentaries overseeing all aspects of production. Content may be short or long-form.

Pre-Production Responsibilities

  • Pitch develop and book interviews for broadcast and digital content including documentaries series and live shows.
  • Stay up to date on developments in government affairs with special attention to legislative and environmental issues.
  • Develop and foster relationships with key stakeholders in pertinent industries.

Production Responsibilities

  • Direct and conduct compelling on-camera interviews.
  • Direct and/or shoot appropriate b-roll compiling and developing graphics and other visual images as needed.
  • Strong writing skills and editorial judgment is a must.

Post-Production Responsibilities

  • Work with assigned editor to oversee all aspects of production. Ability to edit on Adobe Premiere is desired.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet technical specs for both broadcast and digital distribution.
  • Stay current with emerging trends tools and delivery requirements for various delivery platforms.

Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational
Location: Baton Rouge Louisiana
Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday-Friday; however varying work schedules are offered.
Division: Production Department
Compensation:Applicants that possess experience greater than the minimum qualifications may be considered for a salary higher than the minimum hiring rate utilizing State Civil Service Rule 6.5(g).
