We are looking for a collaborative proactive and energetic undergraduate to join us for the student vacation period over summer. We will provide you with on the job coaching while you build your technical skills and get the opportunity to work on impactful projects.

The program will provide invaluable practical experience to conceptualise your studies. We want you to be determined to provide solutions open to learning new things passionate about energy and open to thrive in a team environment.


About Evoenergy

Evoenergy owns maintains and operates the electricity distribution network in the ACT and the gas network in the ACT and parts of NSW. We supply safe reliable and cost-effective electricity to over 200000 residential and business electricity customers and over 140000 gas customers.

Evoenergy has its own fibre network including optical fibre in ground wire (OPGW) fibre strung on 11 kV power lines (ADSS) and underground fibre the current program extensions to the optical fibre network are being designed and installed.

To manage our 300 cables and 600 services Evoenergy has implemented ArcFM Fiber Manager which allows for spatial data (which feeds into Before You Dig Australia reports) asset management and core allocation.


What will you get to do

This role will be involved in the further development and standardisation of data records in Fiber Manager data quality checks arranging contractors to survey cables as installed and working with the team on strategic improvements to the network including designs and implementation of new fibre cables.

Other work will include assisting with the day-to-day monitoring and operations of the Evoenergy communications network and assisting with the configuration of communications devices.

This role will provide a great opportunity to learn about the breadth of engineering tasks involved in designing and operating a communications network working alongside the Principal Communications Systems Engineer and will involve mainly office-based work with some site visits to 132 kV zone substations 11 kV distribution substations and civil works in progress.

The scope of the work will be tailored to leverage the successful applicants experience skills and interests.

Type of experience or educational background we are looking for

  • Electrical/Electronics/Communications/Systems Engineering Degree or similar in progress or recently completed
  • Knowledge of GIS or ArcFM systems would be helpful but not required.


To be eligible you must:

  • Be in the process of completing an undergraduate degree from a university completing your penultimate year of study.
