As the DevOps Lead you will take ownership of the technical stewardship and operational excellence of WAPHAs Primary Health Insights (PHI) platform. This role ensures the platforms reliability scalability and security by managing infrastructure deployment pipelines and automation frameworks. You will lead a small team delivering enhancements oversee deployments of national applications and collaborate with Managed Services Providers to maintain high service availability. Acting as a technical consultant youll provide expert advice on architecture and integration strategies while driving continuous improvement through CI/CD infrastructure-as-code and best-practice methodologies.

Location: WAPHA Head Office Level 2 1 Hood Street Subiaco (Hybrid Role)

Employment Type: Full-time Maximum term contract until 30th June 2026 (With a possibility of extension)

Salary: Band 6 ($140-150k Plus 12% Superannuation)

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day technical support and planned delivery activities for the PHI platform to ensure smooth operations.
  • Architect design and implement platform and application enhancements that meet business requirements and pass agreed test cases.
  • Lead the adoption and ongoing use of CI/CD pipelines infrastructure-as-code and automation solutions to improve deployment efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Managed Services Providers (MSPs) and third-party contractors to deliver work packages within scope and quality expectations.
  • Monitor platform health security posture and operational metrics implementing improvements for resilience and scalability.
  • Provide expert advice on architecture tooling and development approaches to guide technical direction.
  • Manage and mentor a small DevOps team assigning tasks and balancing workloads to achieve timely outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 27001 standards and maintain security and governance requirements across platform operations.
  • Investigate and resolve platform-related incidents and problems ensuring service levels and KPIs are met.
  • Engage with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and provide accurate effort estimates.

About you

To be considered for this role candidates must meet the following selection criteria:

Essential experience and education

  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a related discipline or equivalent industry certifications (e.g. Microsoft Certified Professional Engineer Associate).
  • Minimum of five years experience in infrastructure or cloud services development.
  • Proven ability to develop and communicate solution architectures.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale cloud or on-premise infrastructure environments.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL standards methods and processes.
  • Experience with application management practices including code versioning branching CI/CD system and unit testing and deployment loops.
  • Ability to plan and manage projects work packages and tasks effectively.
  • Experience delegating tasks and overseeing work in a multi-disciplinary team environment supporting project and operational deliverables.
