Scope of Role

The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will have the opportunity to apply engineering principles through planning and development of tools methods processes and equipment that maximize quality of the final product in the most effective efficient and economic way possible. The position may be assigned to either Assembly or Machining operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with identifying and evaluating production machining and assembly process quality problems and work to resolve.
• Collect and Analyze downtime data and create pareto to help prioritize resources for process improvement to reduce downtime.
• Establish TPM sheets for each machine or process area.
• Help create Machine parameters and set-up sheets for each part number/machine as applicable.
• Help create and establish one point lessons database to make knowledge sharing and knowledge flow more robust.
• Participate in daily WAR (walk around review) meetings on the shopfloor. Drive problem solving activities using RBS tools.
• Help with 6S initiatives in different areas of responsibilities.
• Assist with workflow design workstations and work cells in accordance with safety environmental and ergonomic standards.
• Assist with work measurement programs and analyzing work samples for developing standards for labor utilization.

• Strong interpersonal skills which foster teamwork and collaboration and develop high quality working relationships to influence gain support and achieve results. This includes a strong cooperation with production engineering and maintenance personnel external customers and vendors.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively deliver and transfer knowledge of technical concepts to production associates and respond to questions.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle proprietary and sensitive information with integrity.
• Intermediate to advanced level proficiency with CAD and MS Office software applications (Word Excel PowerPoint).
• Demonstrated understanding of finance capital appropriations and budgeting practices and ability to perform manufacturing analysis and estimate cost of labor equipment material and assembly capabilities.
  Willing and able to occasionally travel domestically up to 25% to other Regal sites vendor and/or customer visits training events trade shows etc.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Must be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university studying towards a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Successfully completed at least the 2nd year of the Bachelors degree program.
• Student should be mechanically inclined and have an interest in mechanical design development testing and analysis (demonstrated mechanical aptitude/hands on experience a plus).
• Demonstrated ability to analytically solve problems.
• Self-starter with desire to learn contribute to goals and objectives and meet deadlines.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with a cross functional team.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and organize work efficiently.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in classroom and/or extracurricular activities is preferred.
• The ideal candidate will have the drive to complete projects yet not be afraid to ask questions to ensure quality work.
• This is an entry-level position therefore previous engineering work experience is not required.

The majority of time is spent in a manufacturing production environment with some (but not all) climate-controlled areas.
