Job Summary

Job Purpose

The purpose of the job is to strengthen AIG Japan Expense Management capabilities in a context of transformation of the company and strong focus by AIG Japan Management on expenses. Through this role the candidate will:

  • Contribute to the financial performance of AIG Japan by providing analysis about expenses
  • Partner with various function within AIG to assess monitor and report expenses
  • Monitor actual budget and forecast performance and expenses
  • Deliver periodic (Monthly/Quarterly) business reviews
  • Support intercompany transactions calculation and management

Job Responsibilities

  • Decision support for Japan business management with strong focus on supporting back-office functions such as Marketing & Communication Finance Actuarial Legal & Compliance in their monitoring and achievement of their expense budget target as well as cross functional expenses such as rent and depreciations
  • Partner with stakeholders in each function to provide data and analysis when required communicate with executive in charge of these functions
  • Work with our real estate team to monitor and collected data related to Rent cost.
  • Support budgeting related to depreciations including analysis in both JGAAP and US GAAP

  • Drive expense management efficiency
  • Manage the preparation (data collection analysis commentary) for the monthly expense reporting aimed to management.
  • Review analyze and report expenses of AIG Japan through multiple dimensions (consolidated level functional level subsidiary level by nature such as intercompany expenses rental expenses for example by project)
  • Prepare ad hoc analysis in relation to expenses
  • Support in the preparation of annual budget monthly forecast and financial plans
  • Support the update and implementation of cost allocation methodology
  • Ensure that cost centers are properly updated and reflected with our finance systems through partnering with various functions within Japan.

  • Manage intercompany transactions
  • Lead the annual calculation and adjustment of transaction between AIG Japan legal entities through coordinating collecting data and analyzing results.
  • Prepare materials for the Management Committee and Board of Directors
  • Liaise with external auditors on needed basis

  • Improve quality of business partnering through:
  • A high level of connectivity across the business (local and beyond) and broader finance group
  • Provide constructive challenge/insight around profitability and process improvement
  • Upskill our level of business knowledge and decision support capability

The right person will have opportunities and may be expected to move into other roles across FP&A.

Required Skills and Experiences

Educational Qualification

  • Economics Finance or Business Administration university degree is recommended but not necessarily required

Specific Qualifications

  • Business Level in English
  • High level in the use of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Skill for SAP and the related application systems is recommended
  • Strong attention to detail and orientation to problem-solving

Total Experience

  • 4-5 years of experience in Finance Planning & Analysis or Controllership
  • Data and financial systems knowledge (include Excel and PowerPoint). Practical within existing data limitations and creative with new solutions. Excellent problem-solving skills. Strong focus on attention to detail and desire to deliver accuracy and quality. Specialist understanding of accounting and control for insurance is helpful.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and great team player with the ability to communicate effectively with impact across functions.
  • Good written and oral communications including business-level English; role requires English and overseas communication. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to persuade influence and convince others.
