About the Division of Arthritis and Rheumatology
The OHSU Division of Arthritis and Rheumatic diseases is a team comprised of academic physicians and allied health professionals specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic disorders. OHSU serves as a referral center for patients across the Pacific Northwest. Our team provides care via in-person and digital clinics community outreach and consultation condition specific multi-disciplinary clinics and a shared inpatient service with the VA Portland Health Care System. The team is at the forefront of rheumatology research and is dedicated to integrating cutting edge therapies in the management of patients with rheumatic diseases
Function/Duties of Position
The Division of Arthritis and Rheumatic Diseases is offering an exceptional opportunity to join a nationally recognized academic medical center committed to integrating basic discovery translational science and clinical innovation. Candidates will have access to robust laboratory computational and clinical trial infrastructure along with multidisciplinary collaborations across OHSU VAMC and affiliated research institutes. Collaborative and specialized clinics include lupus/scleroderma myositis ILD irAE and vasculitis. There are active clinical trials and clinical research in rheumatoid arthritis spondyloarthritis psoriatic arthritis lupus and novel CAR-T therapies with potential for expansion to other specialties and/or novel therapeutic interventions.
Research Focus Areas:
- Mechanisms of autoimmunity and inflammation
- Immunologic and molecular mechanism of disease
- Genomics proteomics ad other omics-based research
- Translation and pre-clinical models of disease
- Clinical trial design innovation and real-world evidence research
- Computational health analytics informatics and data science applications
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and sustain an independent externally funded research program
- Collaborate across departments and centers to advance multidisciplinary research initiatives
- Mentor trainees postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty
- Provide clinical care in rheumatology or related specialty
Required Qualifications
- MD/DO or MD/PH.D. or equivalent
- Board certified in Rheumatology or Internal Medicine
- Strong record or clear potential for independent peer-reviewed research funding
- Demonstrated excellence in research teaching mentoring and collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in cross-disciplinary projects bridging clinical and computational health research
- Established record of extramural funding and senior-author publications
- Individuals of diverse background and experiences are highly encouraged to apply
