Job Summary
The Safety Specialist is responsible for developing implementing and maintaining site safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This role promotes safety awareness supports continuous improvement and works closely with the Safety & Environmental Manager to maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations at an excellence level.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive Site Safety programs.
- Coordinate and participate in internal and external safety audits.
- Research recommend and draft policies to ensure compliance with 29 CFR 1910 regulations.
- Review and recommend improvements to the sites safety management systems.
- Develop maintain and conduct drills for Emergency Response programs.
- Represent the site in interactions with state and federal agencies and industry groups on safety and security-related matters.
- Lead and/or participate in safety committees.
- Serve as a liaison with the Workers Compensation carrier on safety-related matters.
- Collaborate with the Safety & Environmental Manager and HR Manager to support the sites Security Program.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Job RequirementsEducation & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelors degree in Safety Environmental Science or related field preferred.
- 24 years of experience in safety environmental or compliance-related roles.
- Experience in manufacturing warehouse or industrial environments strongly preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations particularly 29 CFR 1910.
- Experience with safety audits emergency response planning and safety management systems.
- Ability to develop and deliver safety training and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism while representing the company with regulatory agencies and external groups.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety-related software (preferred).

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety excellence.
- Ability to respond to emergencies and conduct onsite drills as needed.
- Must pass background check and pre-employment screening.
