Job Summary

The Safety Specialist is responsible for developing implementing and maintaining site safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This role promotes safety awareness supports continuous improvement and works closely with the Safety & Environmental Manager to maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations at an excellence level.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain comprehensive Site Safety programs.
• Coordinate and participate in internal and external safety audits.
• Research recommend and draft policies to ensure compliance with 29 CFR 1910 regulations.
• Review and recommend improvements to the sites safety management systems.
• Develop maintain and conduct drills for Emergency Response programs.
• Represent the site in interactions with state and federal agencies and industry groups on safety and security-related matters.
• Lead and/or participate in safety committees.
• Serve as a liaison with the Workers Compensation carrier on safety-related matters.
• Collaborate with the Safety & Environmental Manager and HR Manager to support the sites Security Program.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job RequirementsEducation & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelors degree in Safety Environmental Science or related field preferred.
• 24 years of experience in safety environmental or compliance-related roles.
• Experience in manufacturing warehouse or industrial environments strongly preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations particularly 29 CFR 1910.
• Experience with safety audits emergency response planning and safety management systems.
• Ability to develop and deliver safety training and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Strong organizational analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain professionalism while representing the company with regulatory agencies and external groups.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety-related software (preferred).
