About the role:

We are looking for a skilled Principal Mining Engineer to lead a broad and diverse range of technical projects/studies. As a key contributor within the senior leadership team you will be influential in strengthening our technical capabilities as well as driving the future growth of MEC as an organisation.

You will be joining a passionate group of technical experts and have the ability to independently operate within this high-performance return you will join an entrepreneurial people-focused team where relationships count.

Responsibilities include:

Lead Concept Feasibility Life of Mine and Due Diligence studies

Complete technical components of a broad range of studies

Project management and delivery of projects

Conduct peer reviews and deliver technical reports

Ongoing client relationship management

Develop and mentor other MEC engineers.

Develop and present internal/external technical training

Help grow and expand MECs technical capabilities

Help develop strategy for future business to maximise growth

About you:

As the ideal candidate for the role you have a strong technical foundation in Mining Engineering with a broad knowledge base and skill set. You possess the aptitude and resilience to develop and effectively communicate solutions to complex problems. You will form strong relationships with MECs clients and leverage these connections into successful professional addition to this you promote the growth of fellow team members and inspire them to consistently deliver high-quality work.

Technical Skills:

Demonstrated capability in a variety of Mining Engineering roles

Experience in a variety of open pit mining operations

Comprehensive knowledge of a range of mining methods deposit types and commodities

Technical experience across a variety of technical areas such as mine design source and destination scheduling pit optimisation financial modelling mine studies and technical report writing

Proficiency in mining engineering CAD and scheduling software such as Deswik Vulcan Spry Alastri

Solid experience in project management of technical studies

Understanding of Mineral Reserve estimation and auditing

Working knowledge of mine services including capital and operating cost estimation

Experience in due diligence and project reviews

Business And Leadership

Hold a track record of coaching and mentoring a team of engineers to deliver quality outcomes.

Extensive professional relationships within the mining industry

A talent for managing client relationships and business development

Excellent stakeholder management skills

Proven record in self-managing projects

Strong analytical ability and strategic capability

Exceptional interpersonal communication and report-writing skills

Flexibility

Ability to travel domestically or internationally as required
