    Director Staff Development

    The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Director- Staff Development.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

    1. Masters degree from an accredited college or university.
    2. New Jersey School Administrator Certificate (preferred).
    3. New Jersey Principal Certificate.
    4. New Jersey Teaching Certificate.
    5. Three to five (3-5) years of supervisory experience three of which were with proven success in professional development experience.
    6. Ability to create a District-level professional development plan and program.
    7. Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
    8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    9. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status *As defined in N.J.A.C. 6A:9-9 Instructional certificates

    BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Support the Superintendents development of District leaders through monthly conferences and annual Executive Staff retreat.
    2. Support the Deputy Superintendents instructional initiatives particularly the development of a monthly calendar of district professional development events.
    3. Collaborate with Executive Leadership Directors and Supervisors to ensure that staff development initiatives are based on student achievement data.
    4. Ensure the compliance of NPS school leaders and teachers with professional development requirements set forth by the State of New Jersey.
    5. Provide orientation and ongoing support for novice teachers through the States required Mentor program.
    6. Facilitate the continual learning of school leaders and teachers through tuition reimbursement programs summer study opportunities workshops National Teaching Standards Board Certificationand collaborative enterprises with area colleges and universities.
    7. Review and approve tuition reimbursement applications and ensure compliance with eligibility criteria.
    8. Facilitate the work of District committees involved in professional development activities.
    9. Help design and participate in District-wide professional development activities to improve Staff Development learning.
    10. Collaborate with the Office of Grants Development to develop proposals and monitor grant implementation.
    11. Oversee the implementation of a support program for veteran teachers.
    12. Support outside consultants contracted to provide professional development services to the District.
    13. Engage collaboratively in school-wide and District-wide Staff Professional Development and/or Strategic Plan in an effort to build a shared vision and supportive culture identify common goals and monitor and evaluate progress towards those goals.
    14. Respond to requests from principals and department heads for the creation of customised professional development and facilitation services.
    15. Prepare and monitor annual office budget.
    16. Ability to think strategically.
    17. Ability to motivate and direct other staff members.
    18. Ability to function as a team player in a variety of district collaborative teams.
    19. Ability to facilitate the learning of district teachers and school leaders in a variety of venues.
    20. Thorough knowledge of best practices in professional development.
    21. Effective writing and speaking skills.
    22. Knowledge of New Jersey requirements for continuing professional development for teachers and school leaders.
    23. Knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards
    24. Knowledge of Professional standards for educational Leaders
    REPORTS TO: Deputy Superintendent
    SALARY EMPLOYMENT PERIOD AND UNION AFFILIATION
    Salary: $156000-$184053
    Employment period: 12 Month Calendar.
    Union Affiliation: City Association of Supervisors and Administrators (C.A.S.A.).
