Te tūranga The role

We are recruiting for a Senior Legal Counsel - Legislation to join our busy Legal Services Directorate. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel - Legislation you will provide expert legal advice. You will enjoy engaging with the legal policy and operational teams at the Reserve Bank to deliver results. As a senior member of the team you will where appropriate mentor less-experienced colleagues to support their development.

This role would suit someone looking for a secondment opportunity to experience a new working environment or alternatively someone looking for the security of a permanent role. Let us know your preference in your cover letter.

Ō pūkenga About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

• a proven ability to provide high quality and robust legal advice at a senior level; and

• experience with turning policy into law (including experience instructing PCO); and

• an interest in financial regulation; and

• high quality written and oral presentation and communication skills; and

• the ability to build and maintain strong relationships to work in partnership with our policy and operational teams and with external lawyers as required.

You must be eligible to hold a current New Zealand legal practising certificate.
