Student Accounts & Receivables Services is a fast paced customer service-oriented office within the Financial Services Department. Our primary customers are students but we also provide service to faculty staff and the general public with a variety of services related to campus.

Salary Range: $23.48 - $27.26 per hour

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Assistant Manager Student Accounts & Receivables The Student loans Administrator is responsible for cashier service and the management of clerical projects including but not limited to the administration of student loans both domestic and US Federal loans employee reimbursements (meals mileage and boot allowance) daily customer service cash handling and other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

  • Function as the Financial Services point person for the Fredericton Financial Aid office Canadian Federal and Provincial student loan offices.
  • Actively review all student loan material and websites to maintain a current knowledge of all student loan programs. Report significant changes to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain an ample and current supply of all student loan documentation for other staff including copies of all documentation including Program Information / Cost forms confirmation of enrollment and interest free status forms.
  • Receive Change of Status notifications from supervisors gather and forward them to the appropriate student aid offices.
  • Process/record loans/bursaries when they arrive; send emails to notify students.
  • Federal United States Loan Processing. Retrieve information from UNB Financial Aid office on current and future students obtaining Federal Student Loans; verify this information on the COD system.
  • Monthly analysis of US student accounts to ensure student remains in a 60% course load is imperative.
  • n accordance with the US Federal Student Loan Policies review and assess student account for full time course load on a monthly basis. Adjust accounts for appropriate fees and return any unused US Loan Money if student withdrew or dropped below a 60% course load by using the tables and timeline guidelines set out by the US Government.
  • Process monthly Meal/Mileage disbursements for Facilities Management Security and Residence employees by placing the designated credits on the BER and then running the process to issue a refund of these credits by direct deposit.
  • Provide counter service to students faculty staff and the public. Service includes but is not limited to receipting payments preparing/activating payment plans completing loan information sheets documenting payments reviewing account history accurately discussing account details with the account owner identifying account billing problems through account analysis and taking corrective action providing current fee information maintaining a balanced cash drawer and preparing the daily bank deposit.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post-secondary education in a recognized accounting program.
  • 3 years of related experience in a high volume computerized accounting environment.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Additional Strengths:

  • Familiarity with word processing spreadsheets and electronic mail; Colleague ERP experience an asset. Accuracy and attention to detail imperative in working with student loans.
